OUR STORY
Hidden away on the southern shore of the island of Tierra Bomba, Blue Apple is an independently owned boutique hotel and beach restaurant with a strong focus on fun and also on sustainable tourism. If you didn’t know we were here, you’d never find us. But at only 20 minutes from Cartagena de Indias, it’s surprisingly easy to get here once you know how.
Stop by for lunch, spend a few nights or move in with us for a month. Escape the real world and dive into our magical island life.

THE HOTEL
Blue Apple is a converted private home, designed using local architectural techniques and materials and we have created it to feel like your own beach house escape. Each of our eleven rooms is unique. We have five rooms in the main house and five standalone cabañas.
A night is not really enough. There's so much to see and do around the island. And with frequent, affordable water taxis between here and town, why not even make the island your base?

TIERRA BOMBA ISLAND
Blue Apple is located around half a mile from the village of Bocachica, on the island of Tierra Bomba. It can be reached by boat (there is no bridge) in around 30 minutes from central Cartagena. Bocachica is an important town in Cartagena's history. The island is home to around 10,000 people.

FOOD PHILOSOPHIES
We take our food slowly, and seriously. Executive Chef Pedro Mosqueda has created a menu inspired by Mediterranean favourites and local, Colombian-Caribbean specialities, made from fresh ingredients, sourced locally and sustainably wherever we can. We are proud to offer a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

THINGS TO DO
If lounging poolside sipping freshly made cocktails isn't your thing...
Tierra Bomba is a huge island and with horses, scuba, local tours, a fortress and boats galore, there are loads of ways to explore and keep yourself occupied.
Actually, our management team lived at Blue Apple for five months during lock-down and we never ran out of things to do.

THE SOCIAL SCENE
If we learned anything in 2020, it was how important it is to celebrate everything you can, while you can. Day drinking - it's the best! We have a DJ every weekend and special events once or twice a month. We're also known for our fabulous LGBTQI+ bi-monthly Spread Your Wings event. Be sure to check out if anything special is happening when booking.

GROUP HIRE
With two swimming pools, a large restaurant, outdoor lounge and of course, our beach, Blue Apple is perfectly set up to receive groups for any special occasion.
Whether you're a group of 10 or a group of 300, we can tailor ourselves to suit you just perfectly.

RETREATS
Our remote beach front setting isn’t only good for rosé. Blue Apple is also a perfect location for retreats. You can either join a retreat in a shared or private room, or contact us to find out about hosting your own (up to 24 participants).
Yoga and meditation to sports, management, team building or a combination of it all.

RESIDENCIES
2020 gave us all an opportunity to consider what we really value. Blue Apple has always been and will continue to be a creative space for artists, musicians, poets, writers, yogis, photographers and anyone else who has a dream or a talent or a gift that they would like to share with us, our guests or our community, in exchange for board and lodging.

SUSTAINABILITY & REGENERATION
Blue Apple proud to be a certified B-Corp, a member of Regenerative Travel and founder of the Green Apple Foundation.
Blue Apple is committed to continuously improving our environmental credentials, and we recognise that broad social equality is vital to environmental survival.

SDG COMMITMENTS
Of course, we want people from all over the world to visit Colombia and stay with us. We can't ignore the environmental impact that has, but we also know how important tourism revenues are for the underserved communities where we operate. So, we do our best to operate Blue Apple Beach in the most positively impactful way we can. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), outlined by the United Nations, are a helpful framework for doing this.
