The direct answer
Foreign residents pay no tax on hotel accommodation with us. If you live outside Colombia, the accommodation line on your bill carries no sales tax. For Colombian residents, IVA is already included in the rate you were quoted, so nothing gets added at checkout there either.
That's the part everyone worries about. The rest of the bill is short enough to print here in full.
The whole list, no surprises
| What | How much | Who pays it |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation tax | None | Foreign residents |
| IVA on accommodation | 9%, already included in the rate | Colombian residents |
| Resort fee | $20 USD per night | Everyone |
| Food tax | 8% on all food and drinks, non-refundable | Everyone |
| IVA on activities and souvenirs | 9% | Everyone |
That's it. No cleaning charge, no towel charge, no mysterious service line invented at the end of the stay.
Why there's a resort fee at all
City hotels are connected to public utilities. We're not. We're 25 minutes out to sea on Tierra Bomba, and every litre of water, every crate of vegetables and every member of staff arrives by boat. The $20 per night covers the difference between running a hotel on a grid and running one without.
We'd rather show you that as a line you can see than fold it invisibly into a rate and pretend it doesn't exist.
What's already in the room rate
Rates are per room, based on two people sharing unless the room says otherwise. Each night you stay comes with a day's access to the beach club and its facilities: the pool, volleyball, a sun-lounger and towel service. Your lounger is held for you every day of your stay, so there's no towel-on-the-sunbed race at eight in the morning.
If you want to spend nothing further while you're here, full board is $90 per person per night and covers all food and soft drinks. We don't do an all-inclusive bar. This isn't Cancun.
The optional extras, priced honestly
A VIP daybed sits right in front of the pool and costs $50 USD. A beach cabana, quieter and closer to the sand, is $30 USD. Both suit three people lying down, or a group using one as a base for the day.
If you're coming for the day rather than the night, the club day pass with boat transfers is $40, and then you simply pay for what you eat and drink. Loungers on a day pass run from $5 to $30 depending on which one you pick.
On deposits and cancellations
Worth knowing before you pay anything. For accommodation, we refund 50% of the value of your stay if you cancel more than 30 days before check-in. Inside 30 days the deposit is neither refundable nor transferable. For day passes, lunch reservations and boat transfers, groups of fewer than eight get 97% of the deposit back up to 4pm the day before, and nothing after that. Cancellations have to come to us in writing.
None of this is designed to catch you out. It's an island with eleven rooms and one boat, and an empty seat we held for you is a seat nobody else could take.
And the question we get every week
Can you have a discount? Lol, no. We don't compromise on quality, so we'd rather not compromise on price. What we will do is tell you exactly what everything costs before you book, which is the whole point of this page.
See you on the boat.
