Hidden away on the southern shore of Tierra Bomba island, just 30 minutes from Cartagena, Blue Apple is an independently owned boutique hotel and beach restaurant with a strong focus on sustainable tourism.
When it is safe to do so, we invite you to stop by for lunch or to spend a few nights, escape the real world and dive into our magical island life.
With strict hygiene protocols and our 10 bedrooms all with their own access and set in 4 acres of private land, you can be as socially distant as you please.

After weeks or months of lockdown, doesn't a month on a Caribbean island sound tempting?
Step from your office straight onto the beach. Ride a horse before your next virtual meeting. Get your PADI Open Water certification during your lunch breaks. Keep fit swimming, paddle-boarding, running, mountain biking, horse riding or with a personal trainer in our outdoor gym.
Long stay guests can explore Cartagena by day, returning to a socially distant haven at night, or opting to spend a night or two at our sister in the city, Townhouse, at no extra cost.

HOW HAVE WE BEEN USING OUR TIME?
At first it felt like our world was falling apart. However we soon started to look at this enforced pause as an opportunity to take steps to becoming the business we've always wanted to be.
We've been putting the hours into our kitchen garden, so now produce a lot of our own fruit and veg. We acquired chickens and goats who contribute eggs and goats cheese and we also keep our own pigs. We make our own granola, pasta, bread, cookies and cakes onsite and the entire contents of your minibar is now home made.
What we can't produce ourselves, we buy carefully, seasonally and where possible, always locally. We no longer serve any meat or dairy that is not produced in line with our values. If we can avoid it, we do not spend our $ with large, global corporations.
Our variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes is considerably wider and we welcome more ideas.
We are far from perfect, but we are committed to making the effort to improve, constantly.
We continue to support Co-Founder Portia's socio-environmental non-profit, Green Apple.

Blue Apple is a PADI Dive Resort with onsite scuba school.
Everyone, certified or not, can experience the magic of scuba and we also offer courses from Open Water to Advanced Diver.

Horse Treks & Swims
Many of us grew up around horses so our 7 creole ponies are part of the family.
Take a short trek to a nearby beach, or explore the island over a 20km trail. Horseback is the best way to get a feel for the size of Tierra Bomba and we have horses and routes to suit all levels.
Our horses love a quick dip in the ocean and a roll in the sand as well, and we encourage guests to share an unforgettable moment with them, even if not going for a ride.
Support our island Community
Blue Apple is one of the only employers in the village of Bocachica. Our guests directly and indirectly support around 300 people who now find themselves unable to work.
We are inviting anyone who has ever been to Blue Apple to contribute $2 to the Virtual Tip Jar and enjoy the masterclasses our team is posting from their homes.

During the Covd-19 closures, everyone is doing their part, and while we can't run as a hotel or restaurant, we can still help brighten up your day.
Our family of pets, led by Guapo the donkey, are available to join your virtual meetings for a monthly fee of just $20.
