We have always loved what we do, but nothing makes us happier than to welcome you to Blue Apple today, after nearly seven months of closure.

 

Blue Apple began in 2016 as a simple idea, to bring a touch of the Riviera to the Colombian Caribbean and have some fun along the way. The initial concept was straightforward: Pale rosé. Good music. Great food.

 

I hadn't run a hotel before and back then, there was no tourism here in Bocachica. More than half of our staff had never had permanent employment and almost all were without work when we met. The learning curve was humbling, inspiring, frustrating and rewarding in equal measures. Bit by bit, we made progress. Then, after nearly four years growing and learning, in March 2020 we were stopped in our tracks.

 

So now, more than ever, I realise the role this small business plays in this community. I realise the fragility of our ecosystems and economies on a wider scale, and my responsibility to ensure we do everything the best way we can.

 

We source locally where possible. We hire inclusively. We recycle what we can and are working constantly to reduce our environmental impact, thanks to the committed work of the Green Apple Foundation and our involvement with Regenerative Travel. We hope that in years to come we will look back at this year, and say that it was an amazing opportunity to learn and to grow.

 

What started as a simple beach club has transformed to become a family first and foremost, but also a university, an opportunity, a haven and a fresh start to all of us - twice! By being here, you are supporting local families, developing a community, encouraging responsible travel and changing lives.

 

We hope that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside (possibly enhanced by a good dose of sun, sand and that famously pale rosé).
